Department of Commerce Announces Finalization of CHIPS R&D Award with Quantinuum

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Commerce announced today the signing of a final award of up to $100 million to Quantinuum under the CHIPS and Science Act. The R&D funded by this award addresses critical technology and quantum semiconductor manufacturing bottlenecks for scaling of fault-tolerant trapped-ion-based quantum computers, such as low-loss integrated photonics, specialized semiconductors for cryogenic use, and reliable optical components at trapped-ion critical wavelengths.
